Iain Nicholson & Co was set up in April 1967 by Iain Nicholson and now is run as a company Iain Nicholson Solicitors Limited trading as Iain Nicholson & Co. The Directors are Iain Nicholson, Peter Dakin and Victoria Stevenson.

The firm has a committed policy of putting the Client first and operates from the office in Ponteland. Clients come not only from the immediate vicinity of Ponteland but the whole of the North East and Nationally and beyond.

The firm has developed as a Private Client Firm with significant expertise in Wills, Estate Planning, Trusts and Tax, Probate, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Court of Protection, Residential and Commercial property, Agriculture, Company and Commercial work and Estate Agency.

Ponteland is an attractive environment. The office is accessible and is close to Newcastle with excellent rail and air services available.

The firm has grown significantly year by year with high standards of professional and personal service. Many of our Clients have become Friends and many Friends have become Clients.

The firm supports local charities and local events. In recent times the firm has sponsored Jamie Noon and Jimmy Gopperth, players at Newcastle Falcons and in Ponteland the Ponteland Repertory Company, Ponteland Beer Festival, Ponteland Party in the Park and the Boat Race.

We have supported Ponteland Rugby Club in its 50th year, coinciding with the firm’s 50th year celebrations in 2017, where Dr Nicholson, father of Iain Nicholson, was a Founder and First President.

Iain Nicholson

Iain Nicholson started the practice in Ponteland in April 1967. The practice has grown into a much respected Private Client Practice.

He became one of the few Solicitors in the country qualified to give both legal and financial and investment advice.

He is not only a Solicitor and a Member of the Law Society but also a Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investments and a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

He has been President of the Newcastle Law Society, Chairman of the Association of Solicitor Investment Managers, President of the Old School Association of Fettes College and President of the local Rugby Club Northern and been involved in charitable activities such as the British Heart Foundation.

His interests outside the firm are his family, the countryside, rugby, tennis and meeting people.

Peter Dakin

Peter Dakin qualified as a Solicitor in 1974 and has been a member of Iain Nicholson & Co since that time.

Peter has extensive experience in residential, commercial and agricultural property matters and has acted for both landowners and developers on various development projects over many years.

In common with all members of the firm Peter is a Private Client specialist and is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners.

Out of the office Peter is a fell walker and enjoys rural activities with friends and family.

Victoria Stevenson

Victoria joined the firm as a Trainee in 2005 after completing her Legal Practice Course at Northumbria University following which she was awarded the Newcastle Prize.

She qualified as a Solicitor in 2007 and was appointed a Partner in 2013. She is now a Director of the company specialising in residential conveyancing, Wills and Probate and Court of Protection applications.

Victoria enjoys spending time with her two young children and husband.
